My Prelim Task.

In my prelim task I wanted to make it as sleek as possible. I used Final cut pro to edit it and used an upbeat piece of music to compliment the high tempo in which she walks down the street.

Shot Sizes.

Shot size basically means how big things are in the picture, and whether it mainly shows the settingpeople in the setting, or details of faces and things.  Most filmmakers use standard names for shot sizes. It’s important to use different shot sizes in your movie. It’s a way of spelling things out, to make sure that people see exactly the things you want them to see. If you shoot everything in long shot (head to foot) people will probably miss details and expressions which would help them understand the story.

Plot vs story

In order to create a believable story, once must know the difference between plot and story.
A story can be defined as the chronological sequence of events and plot as the casual and logical structure which connects events.

I found this article particularly interesting in my search for a definition between plot and story and the importance that each one plays in being able to tell an effective story.

Martin Scorsese talking about the difference between plot and story:

SRS and MOA

SRS or “Shot reverse shot” is a staple of editing in dialogue sequences. Conventionally, it utilizes the 180 degree rule and the eye line match. The Coen brothers, in particularly, make great use of this style of editing.

Cutting on action or matching on action refers to film editing and video editing techniques where the editor cuts from one shot to another view that matches the first shot's action. A common example is a man walking up to a door and reaching for the knob.

Colours and Fonts.

For my title sequence I want to focus quite a lot on the type of font and the style its going to be done in. I have previously been inspired by japanese animations and stylistic films. Here I chose a few film posters that aesthetically I really liked to help inspire me with the colours and fonts that I want to be using in my opening.
